Rochester, N.Y. — (WHAM) - Churches in the Rochester area are partnering with the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce to help the community during this pandemic.
On Monday morning, the First Genesis Baptist Church handed out face masks at the David Gantt Recreation Center.
The effort is part of its 'Straight from the Heart' outreach ministry.
"We never thought we would be in this situation where we would have to wear masks, but this is the new normal," said Pastor Fred Johnson of First Genesis Baptist Church. "We're just trying to make this as feasible as possible for residents in the City of Rochester."
This is the first of several planned mask distributions in Rochester being planned for the next few weeks.
