VNA partners with FellowshipWorld to create an Oasis in a Food Desert
The Visiting Nursing Association has provided a generous donation of non-perishable food items to FellowshipWorld Church, Buffalo, NY.
The Food items will be distributed Saturday June 4, 2022 fron 11:00 am - 2:pm at the church located at 878 Humboldt Parkway (Corner of East Utica).
The "Oasis in a Food Desert" is in response to the closure of Tops Markets due to a mass shooting that took place on May 14 where 10 people were killed and 3 wounded. FellowshipWorld is about 4 blocks from the scene, yet recognizes that some residents of the area were disenfranchised.
Bishop John Young of FellowshipWorld shared that "Humboldt Parkway is divided into 2 Zip Codes, 14208 and 14211. Our church sits directly across the street from the area where all the attention was focused, yet residents that lived across literally across the street were inadvertently overlooked for some services. We greatly appreciate the generosity of the employees at the Visiting Nursing Association".
In addition, 716 Selfie Museum will provide free vouchers for the children of the area to visit their facilities at 3500 Main Street, Buffalo.
